Slap in the face

Freeze-frame: mid-slap
Who would have thought that a slap to the face could rearrange it, albeit temporarily?

Here's the video proof, in super slo mo.

Of course, copping a water balloon in the face would be even more distracting!

Now I know why it hurts so much when I get slapped! Goodness knows what a face looks like during a punch...

Hmm. I don't know why I clicked on the "super slo mo" link in the first place, but when I did, it was a nasty surprise to find a You Tube video entitled "A bitchslap in super slow motion." I don't find that term amusing, and it's certainly nothing I expected to find linked to this blog.

Hi Caterina

Thanks for that. The expression "bitch slap" is offensive, and I missed it.

I've replaced the link with one to the MythBusters doing similar slapping, but without the offensive label.

A well thrown can be just a dangerous as a punch due the physical pain and the damage to the ego..

Great post

Slapping someone in the face should be avoided in my view since it's usually not an effective technique (not unless you absolutely know what you're doing and follow it up immidiately with throws or locks) and will likely result in enraging and already hostile individual. In western culture slapping a man in the face is viewed as highly insulting and will usually result in punches being thrown, not unlike the medieval practice of hitting someone in the face with a glove as an invitation to a duel. The only effective uses of slapping that I know of are groinslaps and earslaps: both very painful and practically guaranteed to get results.
